| "The Simpsons," Fox's Emmy
Award-winning series about a lovably dysfunctional family originated
in 1987 as a feature on"The Tracey Ullman Show." 24 years
later "The Simpsons" is the longest-running sitcom on
television and it has stimulated a resurgence of animation on prime
time. Matt Groening, a native of Portland, now resides in Los Angeles
. He continues to work as the executive producer of the Simpsons
and is also responsible for "Futurama," now in production
