Design Studio Tours
Washington D.C./ Alexandria, VA
See how some of D.C.'s finest design firms operate by taking part
in the AIGA D.C. Design Studio Tours. At each studio you'll hear
from the principal about studio ethos, check out award-winning work,
the interior design and talk to employees over refreshments. The
Alexandria tour will visit Grafik, Carter-Cosgrove, Fuszion
and Staples/Charles; the Washington tour will visit Eason
Associates, Fathom,
Threespot, Kinetik/Kitchen K and Beth
Singer Design. All this and a guided overview of the design highlights
in the most interesting D.C. neighborhoods.
Buses for either tour depart from the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel
on Thursday, March 21 at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

DC Behind-the-Scenes Tours
Have you ever wondered how a 113-year-old brand can bring its legacy
of stunning visuals and its standard of excellence to a new broadcast
channel? What makes visual design essential to the success of radio
production? What did people consider to be a well designed book
in the year 1501? On Thursday, March 21, AIGA takes you behind the
scenes with The National Geographic Channel/National Geographic
Magazine, National Public Radio, The National Gallery of Art Library,
The Folger Shakespeare Library and The Library of Congress Rare
Books and Special Collections. Experience the inner workings and
the role of design in these Washington, DC-based organizations.
DC Behind-the-Scenes tours take place Thursday, March 21 and are
limited to 20 attendees. Tours run concurrently, so please register
for one only. Tours will assemble one hour prior to start time at
Marriott Wardman Park Hotel for group departure.

salon is the place to meet speakers for a tête-tête
and get books signed.
Bookstore and E-lounge
A place to hang out, browse and buy the latest titles by and about
"Voice" presenters as well as the results of a year of
unprecedented activity in book publishing. The conference bookstore,
provided by Hennessey and Ingalls, and the E-lounge for checking
e-mail will be open during breaks, lunch and the breakout sessions.

community and learn about the latest developments in our industry.
